St. John’s Basketball x Stadium Custom Kicks: A Season to Remember, a Sneaker That Captured It
Posted by Mason Berk on
The 2024–25 season will go down as one of the most iconic in St. John’s basketball history.
In just his second year at the helm, Rick Pitino led the Red Storm to a Big East regular season title, followed by a thrilling run at Madison Square Garden that ended with their first Big East Tournament championship in 25 years. The team played with confidence, toughness, and togetherness, finishing with an impressive 31 wins, a Top 15 national ranking, and a return to national relevance.
MSG was electric all season long, and the fan base rallied behind a team that brought real swagger back to Queens.
To celebrate the success and connect fans even deeper to the program, Stadium Custom Kicks and St. John’s University teamed up for a first-of-its-kind release: a custom, hand-painted Nike Air Force 1, dropped during the first week of March, just ahead of the postseason run.
Each pair featured a clean white base, bold red laces, and the iconic SJ logo—highlighting the pride, passion, and personality of St. John’s basketball. Every sneaker was hand-painted with precision, making each one truly unique—just like this team.
But this drop wasn’t just about sneakers. It was about supporting the future of the program.
A portion of proceeds went directly to the Flat Top Fund NIL collective, which provides financial resources for St. John’s student-athletes. In today’s college landscape, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) support has become a vital part of building and sustaining elite-level programs. This sneaker collab offered a fresh, creative way for fans to contribute—not just by donating, but by wearing their support proudly.
This was more than merch—it was a movement.
Edition 1 was available for one week only and will never be restocked, making every pair a collector’s item tied to one of the greatest seasons in program history.
From banners in the rafters to custom kicks on your feet, this was a year to remember and a powerful reminder that St. John’s is back.
