What is cleat toe protection and do I need it?

Many baseball and softball players experience toe drag, which happens when the front of the cleat repeatedly scrapes the ground during pitching or hitting. Over time, this can cause the toe of the cleat to wear down or develop holes.

Toe protection products are designed to help protect the front of the cleat and extend its lifespan.

What is Toe Drag?

Toe drag commonly occurs when:

• Hitters rotate their front foot when swinging

This repeated contact can quickly wear through the toe of the cleat.
